This extreme heat doesn’t just make seats uncomfortable; it can ruin, melt, or even ignite common items you might casually leave behind. Here’s what to grab before locking up this season.

1. Electronics (Phones, Laptops, Cameras)

Your smartphone or laptop might survive a few hours in the shade, but direct sunlight is a death sentence. High temperatures can warp batteries, fry circuit boards, and permanently reduce battery life. A phone left in a hot car may shut down unexpectedly, and lithium-ion batteries—found in most gadgets—can even swell or leak if overheated. Cameras are equally vulnerable: heat can damage lenses, sensors, and memory cards, corrupting your photos.
Pro tip: If you must leave a device, store it in a insulated cooler bag (without ice, to avoid condensation) in the trunk, away from direct light.

It’s a myth that plastic bottles release harmful chemicals when heated, but they pose another risk: fire. Even if they don’t explode, the propellants can leak, leaving a toxic residue.
