How Often Should You Check Tire Pressure?

Regular tire pressure checks are non-negotiable for safety and tire protection—but how often is enough? The general rule is at least once a month, but specific scenarios demand more frequent checks. For daily commuters, monthly checks prevent gradual pressure loss from temperature changes or minor leaks. If you drive frequently on rough roads, haul heavy loads, or own an EV (which loses pressure faster due to weight), check every 2 weeks. Before long trips, always inspect pressure—even if you checked recently—since long drives amplify the impact of underinflation. Seasonal shifts also require attention: pressure drops 1-2 PSI for every 10°F temperature decrease, so check when autumn turns to winter or spring to summer. Don’t rely solely on TPMS alerts—they typically activate only when pressure is 25% low, which already causes wear. Consistent, proactive checks extend tire life and avoid costly damage.
