If you store tires (e.g., seasonal tires or spare tires) for extended periods, proper storage is vital to prevent damage. Clean tires thoroughly before storage to remove dirt, salt, and chemicals that can degrade rubber. Store tires in a cool, dry, dark area—avoid extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight. For loose tires, stack them horizontally (no more than four high) or hang them on tire racks to prevent deformation. If tires remain mounted on rims, inflate them to 5-10 PSI above the recommended pressure to maintain shape, and place the vehicle on jack stands to avoid tire pressure points. Never store tires near solvents, fuels, or sharp objects. Proper storage prevents dry rot, cracking, and shape distortion, ensuring tires are in good condition when you need them.
