Electric vehicles (EVs) place distinct demands on tires, so specialized protection is essential. EVs are heavier than gas-powered cars (due to batteries), increasing tire load and wear. They also deliver instant torque, which strains tread and sidewalls. Opt for tires designed for EVs—they’re built with reinforced structures and low-rolling-resistance rubber to handle extra weight and torque. Check tire pressure more frequently (every 2 weeks) since heavier vehicles cause faster pressure loss. Rotate tires every 5,000 miles (sooner than gas cars) to distribute uneven wear from weight and torque. Avoid aggressive acceleration, as it accelerates tread wear. EV tires may wear 20-30% faster, so monitor tread depth closely and replace when it hits 4/32 of an inch. By adapting your care routine to EV-specific stressors, you extend tire lifespan and maintain efficiency.
